Shop / columbus day expeditionary force
When the morning sky glittered again—this time due to the Kristang spaceships that had arrived to destroy the Ruhar—we thought we were saved. The United Nations Expeditionary Force boarded the Kristang ships and joined the fight against the Ruhar. That's how I went from fighting for the American army in Nigeria to space wars. But they were all lies. All of them. We shouldn't have even been fighting the Ruhar. They were not our mortal enemies. On the contrary, they were our precious allies. I better start from the beginning.
The Ruhar struck us on Columbus Day, the day when we commemorate the arrival of European explorers to the Americas. Just as the Native Americans were caught off guard by the technologically superior Europeans in 1492, we found ourselves in a similar situation, facing an advanced alien species on our own planet. The initial encounter was marked by violence and confusion, as we struggled to comprehend the magnitude of this extraterrestrial threat.
Amidst the chaos, we thought we had found allies in the Kristang, another alien race that had arrived to aid us in our fight against the Ruhar. The United Nations Expeditionary Force eagerly joined forces with the Kristang, believing they were our saviors. Little did we know that the Kristang had their own agenda, and that the war we were fighting was not the one we thought we were fighting.
As the battle raged on, I found myself transitioning from my role in the American army in Nigeria to the frontlines of these cosmic conflicts. The scale and complexity of the interstellar war were overwhelming, and I gradually realized that the truth was far more convoluted than it had initially appeared.
In the end, we came to understand that the Ruhar were not our enemies at all. They were, in fact, our allies, and the real threat lay elsewhere. The realization that we had been manipulated and misled was a bitter pill to swallow. The good news, if there was any, was that we were fighting a war that we couldn't win. At least, not in the way we had been led to believe.
The events that unfolded on that fateful Columbus Day marked the beginning of a journey that would challenge our understanding of our place in the universe and force us to confront the harsh realities of interstellar politics and deception. As I reflect on those turbulent times, I can't help but wonder what other secrets and lies are still waiting to be uncovered, both in the cosmos and here on our little blue marble.
